I have been gaining a few weight these days.
I didn’t aware of that due to the accumulation of different factors including stress, lifestyle changes and simply I just don’t care what I eat.
I have recently replaced the battery in my scale. It has been off for about 2-3 months so I didn’t weigh myself and I didn’t care. My mistake. I usually weigh myself every morning after taking a shower.
When someone tells me I gain weight, that’s a huge warning sign for me. For me, it is usually around 5 lbs gain for someone to notice the difference. Anything less than 5lbs they simply didn’t notice. It has been two people telling me that I gain weight in a month.
So I decided to take action to keep the weight back in control. The problem with the weight gain is if you neglect that; those bad things that you do will become the habits and it will simply go downhills. It is much easier to lose 5 lbs than 20 lbs.
If any of you trying to lose weight, I would advise not overdo it. It is better to lose gradually by combining diet, exercise and lifestyle changes. There is a lot of diet books and gurus out there. This post is not about what diet or quick fix. It is general advice and awareness.
I strongly recommend don’t rush it and if necessary check with the doctor first if you already got any problem with your health.
Diet
Eat less sugar and quick carbohydrate. Eat more lean protein, vegetable and fibres. They will fill you up. Drink a lot of water.
To lose weight you need to consume fewer calories than you can burn in a day. It is that simple.
Exercise
Simply walking for 20 minutes a day will help accelerate weight loss. If you could manage to do some muscle training especially to lower body and core; it will be awesome. Those gain muscles will help boost your metabolism so you could not only lose weight but also have more stable weight after doing the diet.
Lifestyle Changes
I put this at the last for a reason. It is no less important, however, usually doesn’t matter if you follow the above ones. Only losing about 1-2 lbs a week by doing excellent diet control with added exercises to your daily routine will help you develop a good habit of eating and keeping your body in shape. You’re very less likely to go back to the previous habits.
Anyway, lifestyle is the most important factor in weight control.
